Pool Service in Fountain Hills, AZ

Arizona Aqua Pools provides pool service in Fountain Hills, up the hill to the northeast of our Gilbert base. We handle weekly cleaning and equipment repair. The town has its own drain rules, its own lighting rules and very hard water, so here's what a Fountain Hills pool owner should know.

Pool Service and Repair Across Fountain Hills

A weekly pool service visit covers skimming, brushing, vacuuming and emptying the baskets. We test and balance the water and check the equipment on every stop.

Our pool repair work covers pumps, filters, heaters, salt cells, automation, valves, fittings and pool lights. That last one matters more here than in most towns, as you'll see below.

Fountain Hills Water Runs About 16 Grains Hard

EPCOR serves Fountain Hills through its Chaparral City system. Its 2025 water quality report says the water is about 16 grains per gallon hard. On EPCOR's scale, anything over 10.5 grains is very hard. The report also lists a pH of 7.9.

The water is a blend of Colorado River water from the Central Arizona Project and groundwater from below the town. EPCOR notes the hardness can change with the season as that blend shifts. So we don't assume. We test calcium, pH and alkalinity at your pool each week and adjust.

Fountain Hills Sits Above the Valley Floor

The town's community profile puts its elevation at 1,520 feet at the fountain and 3,000 feet along Golden Eagle Boulevard. It says the town sits about 500 feet above Phoenix. The fountain itself was built in 1970 and runs for about fifteen minutes every hour.

Hillside lots and desert landscaping send leaves, dust and gravel into the water, the same as anywhere in the desert. Weekly cleaning keeps that debris from settling and feeding algae.

Before You Drain a Fountain Hills Pool

The Town of Fountain Hills says pool water can't go into the streets or washes. It has to stay on your property or go into your sewer cleanout. Backwash water can go onto your own lot if it stays there until it soaks in. A permanent pipe from the pool straight into the cleanout isn't allowed.

The Fountain Hills Sanitary District allows draining and backwashing into a cleanout on your property. It limits draining on a list of streets because of pump station capacity. The district asks you to call before you drain, so check with them first.

Dark Sky Rules for Fountain Hills Pool Lights

The town's pool checklist calls Fountain Hills an International Dark Sky Community. Pool permits need bulb specs showing a color temperature of 3000K or lower. That's a warm white light. The same checklist sets pool barriers at 60 inches or taller with outward-opening, self-closing and self-latching gates.

When a pool light needs replacing, we'll look for one that fits the town's rule. If you're planning new pool work that needs a permit, the town's checklist is a good place to start.
